I choose to execute a simple gestural movement repeated infinite times as a contemplation of landscape—one that that has been neutered, rearticulated into one that is observed. The permanency of this excavated gesture serves to capture the record—one of loss, absence—of the figure upon the land. Fragmented. Re-formed into the known, resulting in a challenge to the viewer’s notion of what it means to be ceramic--to  force them to “re-see” and “re-discover” materials in the exhibition space.
